2013 AAHPERD Southwest District Convention: It Takes a Villiage to Move A Child in School

  • June 26, 2013
  • June 29, 2013
  • Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa: Las Vegas NV

Children in U.S. schools have never been more sedentary, meanwhile, nearly one-third of all U.S. children and adolescents are overweight or obese, and rates among Black and Hispanic children, as well as children living in lower-income households, are even higher. It is time to bring physical and health educators, recreation, dance and sports professionals, school administrators, school board members, public health professionals and agencies, local and state policy makers, chronic disease organizations, physicians, parents and researchers together as stakeholders in children’s health to discuss ideas on how we can overcome  barriers to children’s physical activity during the school day.
